SBA Loan Officer

Pay: $80,000 – $125,000 (Depending on Qualifications and Experience) plus commission-based incentive program

Responsible for originating, underwriting, and managing Small Business Administration (SBA) loans, ensuring compliance with SBA guidelines and bank policies. This role involves building relationships with small business clients, analyzing financial statements, facilitating the loan process from application to closing, and providing SBA guidance to the organization to support strategic lending initiatives.

Essential Duties And
Responsibilities

  • Develops SBA lending opportunities by engaging with business owners and referral sources to promote SBA loan programs. Calls on existing and prospective clients to expand the bank’s SBA loan portfolio and strengthen relationships.
  • Reviews borrower financials, business plans, and collateral to assess eligibility and repayment ability in accordance with SBA guidelines. Makes credit decisions within approval authority and ensures compliance with SBA requirements. Completes or oversees the preparation of SBA loan documentation and closes loans.
  • Ensures ongoing compliance with SBA regulations by maintaining accurate and up-to-date borrower records, including financial statements, tax returns, and loan documentation. Proactively reviews portfolio performance to maintain a high-quality asset base and mitigate risk.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to enhance SBA loan program awareness and ensure seamless integration with the bank’s overall commercial lending strategy. Serves as one of the subject matter experts on SBA lending guidelines, ensuring compliance with SBA policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with underwriters, credit analysts, and loan processors to ensure a smooth loan approval and closing process.
  • Stay informed about SBA policies, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Education,
Experience, Skills

  • 5+ years of relevant SBA Lending experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of SBA 7(a) and 504 loan programs
  • SBA Lending-Specific Training from organizations like NAGGL highly preferred
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
